ITIS is an integrated approach to the sharing and interrelating of technical performance information to SANRAL’s employees. All data is stored digitally in one database containing all information forming the basis for integration. Therefore, ITIS uses modern database technology (Oracle) as its kernel making it possible to store Alphanumeric (Text and Numbers), Geographic (Spatial) and Multi Media (Images, Audio and Video) in the same physical database. Thus, ensuring that the criteria of data-quality, no redundancy, data consistency and data “time-reference” are met as illustrated.
